Why We Like The Outdoor Research Trailbreaker Tour Pant
Outdoor Research recognizes that we don't spend as much time on our seats in the backcountry, so they crafted Trailbreaker Tour Pant with zonal waterproofing and stretch to better match our touring needs. The upper zone of the pant is made with a stretchy double-weave to enhance breathability and movement during our skin track ascents. The lower half features mechanical stretch fabric and Ventia waterproof tech, keeping the snow on the side of the track and the powder we'll eventually glide through off our baselayers, boots, and socks.

Awesome ski/snowboard pants
Former competitive skier; have worn a few days in Lake Tahoe early season (mid-20s/30s and sunny). Very pleased. Fit great (5'11 / 190 athletic build - large is perfect). Paired with a light base layer- plenty warm. Highly recommend.

Daily ski touring pant
I use these as my primary ski touring pant for winter in CO. They have great stretch and they are water resistant enough for daily use. Great vents and pockets. I think I am on my 4th pair!

Fabulous Backcountry Active Alpine Touring Pant
The Pant moves well with your body as you work your way through the deep stuff as well as the skin track on the Level and Steep as well on your Downs Great Fit and extremely comfortable and breathable Offers great layering decisions for adjusting to your trip conditions and levels of intensity throughout your day Beacon Pocket is in an area I like as well Lots of Zip Pockets and Side Zips to vent when you are all Lathered Up from the intense workouts up the Steep or wherever Cuff Scuff protection etc I really enjoy these Pants when I'm out in the Backcountry Alpine Whitestuff and being Active doing whatever the Active Alpine throws my way Work great for Skiing, Shoeing, Mountaineering, Trekking, Winter Scrambling, Climbing Ice Wall stuff especially if you have mixed trips and adventures where you might be up against it and need to push on thru instead of just activity specific gear for days in the Great White Frozen Alpine Environs I really enjoy wearing the Trailbreakers

First use and fit
I've only used the pants on one outing so far and they seem to be a good option. I am 6', 220 lbs, and was on the fence whether to get L or XL. I went with L and I am glad I did. The pants are a bit warmer than I anticipated as the fabric is brushed in some areas or where it is layered (e.g. pockets) but are a lot less warm and more breathable than my shells.

Great pants for touring and spring skiing
Bought these for climbing Katahdin in Maine and they performed great, kept me cool on the ascent and were warm enough for the summit and around camp. Wasn't snowy so can't speak for waterproofing. Softshell in the thighs is definitely chilly if its windy and you aren't generating much heat.

Best ski touring pant I've ever used!
For ski touring I love everything about these pants. The cut, the color options, and the thoughtful details (the dedicated suspender attachment points, the red zipper on the beacon pocket, and the crampon guards to name a few) make me happy to recommend them.

Excellent ski touring pants, best ever
All the features that I want, nothing that I don't. I've owed a few of the top brands through the years and these are the best.

Top notch snow pants
I love these softshell hybrid pants. They are fantastic in the snow and fit better and more comfortably than most I've tried. I'm 6' and 190# (33" waist) and the Medium is perfect. I would imagine anyone with a shorter inseam would find these long and perhaps baggy. Too bad there aren't length options. They work great for winter hiking/snowshoeing/shoveling the driveway/snow play w the doggo. Layer great with long johns. They seem like an excellent fit for touring, especially with the good breathability, stretch, and generous venting option with the side zippers, but I haven't yet got out this season. Waterproof and reinforced lowers a nice feature, especially when... breaking trail. With ski boots I'm pretty sure I could get away with a shorter length even at 6' / 32" inseam, but then they would be a bit short the rest of the time. Most snow pants bunch up with a bit of a baggy look over ski boots anyway. Would buy again.

Nice touring pants
I've taken these out on a couple of tours, and so far they are holding up to the abuse. They're comfortable, they stretch, and I like the pockets and easy to use vent zippers.
